A bell clanged three times then stopped, then four more times. Malina looked at the sun as it climbed it's way over the horizon. She didn't want to move, but she could not help herself and she glanced to her left. There she saw the skiffs she knew would be approaching. Two skiffs, four generals. She left he lonely postion and walked over to the captain of her ship.
The captain work his black hair long and tied back behind his head. He wore a thick blue cloak that covered his bare barrel chest. He stood by the helm watching the sun rise and did not notice Malina as she approached.
"Tayauh," Malina said addressing the captain, "I see the generals are approaching. Why was I not notified of their impending arrival."
Tayauh bowed when he saw Malina. He remained crouched on one kneee while he addressed her with his head bowed. "I do not know Masu. The bells you heard were my first warning as well. Perhaps they received some news over the night and wished to deliver it personally."
"This ship was to received all news, and there is no reason to deliver news personally, we have have easier methods of communications. Please, please, resume your postion." Captain Tayauh stood and manned the helm, his eyes steady. "I will be below preparing for their arrival. Please have someone wake Itzi, if he sleeps, and send him to my cabin."
"It will be done."
"Thank you." With that Malin departed to her cabin. The Red robe she wore would not do for another meeting with the generals. She could not appear unprepared.
