Malina paused a moment before replying to the old man that sat across from her. Her green eyes were lit for a moment by the swaying lanterns in her cabin. Sympathy for the natives.

"I can understand why you might feel this way." she started slowly.

"Honorifics are aside."

"Yes, yes. After all these years when I invoke that with you dear Itzi I mean it. The cabin is ours and you can speak as freely as you would like." She stood a little straighter in her chair. Before continuing she calmly smoothed the red fabric of her sleeves. "We come to take these lands back. It is as simple as that. We come prepared for war and we come prepared for peace. These lands belong to us. They are our destiny. They were our lands once, and they will be our lands again. The terror we wage now may spare lives in the future."
