"I don't know much of them." Atl walked down the stairs following behind Meztli. "They are different from our leaders and the ways of the Totec. Something in their bones seems different. I have had little contact with them, save glimpses of them after the battle but soldiers have stories.
"They are not a ruling class by blood, and yet their very station enforces their position. They are surprised by all of this."
"Surprised?" Meztli asked.
"Yes, as though who they are guaranteed their positions. As though rules, or the very power of history itself ensured their place and the continuation of that place into the future."
"Oh interesting. Quite astute for a member of the night watch."
